Though our clients are fairly varied in both scale and industry, we take an agile approach to the software process - incorporating ideas from the lean movement, as well as development best practices such as automated testing, pair programming, and continuous integration. The most successful software efforts are those in which there is a high degree of collaboration between all members of the team. We work hard to maintain high visibility throughout a project by delivering often.
DevMynd was founded in 2010 initially as a product company. We planned to build out the Crew project collaboration platform as well as introduce other products. While this plan propelled us forward, ultimately we had more fun collaborating with our clients on their projects. So, the company pivoted into a full-service consultancy.
JC has been working in technology for over 12 years, has built products, and worked with clients from small businesses to multi-national corporations. He has a passion for great software, client development, and user experience.
Brad's experiences started in software development and corporate education, but soon evolved to include product management and user testing. With these skills he brings a unique approach yielding more accurate feedback and better visibility.
Peter has filled every role in the realm of web development and infrastructure, from system administration to usability designer, across a wide variety of environments. He has deep technical skills and a passion for teaching them, all driven by a strong care for the craft of software development.
We love writing software; it's our bread-and-butter and just makes us
happy. We use a great collaborative approach to bring the best
solution to our clients and awesome tools such as
Ruby on Rails
,
ASP.NET MVC
, and
PhoneGap
to do it. Through a combination of agile and lean
practices we ensure a highly visible delivery process.
We also love helping to conceptualize products. Over our years in the industry we've developed a wealth of experience in defining products based on real customer/user needs, not just the pie-in-the-sky view of a product manager. Through user interviews, wireframing, facilitated brainstorming, and competitive analysis we can help hone in on the right product for the market. When you're ready to start building, we'll be right there with the tools to help construct your Minimum Viable Product.
Hand in hand with product development is prototyping. You can't validate your ideas without having something to show potential customers. We've developed a set of techniques and code libraries to help us do it efficiently and robustly. This allows you to save your money for the real product and still get a level of comfort through having real users interact with your prototype.
Creating a sustainable software practice isn't easy. Sometimes outside observation and coaching can make all the difference. We've seen many client environments and have learned a few things along the way about how to help teams move to a more agile and productive process. We approach coaching projects by embedding with your team and teaching my example.

In addition to working with our clients, we also spend some time on projects that we believe in, that give back to the community, and are just generally fun.
is a lightweight and flexible collaboration tool for agile software teams. It helps
keep track of daily work, track progress, and provide a central place for project
artifacts.
SoupCan is a web based chat tool for quickly creating disposable chat rooms. It's
the simplest way to get a group of people chatting without worrying about
having the same chat client installed and knowing everyone's username.
TwipUs is brand new and still in heavy development. Its goal is to bring real-time photography, and social media together around events...what a mouthful :)
ChicagoWebConf is an annual one day conference in Chicago focused on all things
web. Last year we had presentations on HTML5/CSS3, vector data visualizations,
BackboneJS, Coffeescript, wireframing, and more. Holding a conference is just plain
fun and we hope to keep ChicagoWebConf rolling year after year.
Flynt is a framework for building rapid web prototypes. It's still in active
development but will be released as an open source project when ready. It consists
of a simple server built on Sinatra, a MongoDB back end for persistance, and a
set of easy to use abstractions for building interactive prototypes.
